Opposition Strength Will Be Reduced In Rajya Sabha This year, Preparations To Send Priyanka Gandhi To Upper House

This year, the ruling NDA will get a majority in the Rajya Sabha. But the opposition is about to weaken further. Since the Congress will lose many of the 68 seats vacated by the end of this year. The Congress may lose about nine of its 19 seats in the Upper House. Since its seats in some state assemblies have reduced considerably. So she can bring some veterans of her party including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to Rajya Sabha.

On the other hand, the ruling BJP is ready to take a big lead in the Rajya Sabha. At present, the NDA does not have a majority in the Upper House. And to get the bill passed, it has to take the support of its allies like AIADMK and BJD. In the 245-member Rajya Sabha, the BJP has a maximum of 82 members and the Congress 46. The House also has 12 nominated members, including eight in support of the BJP.

In fact, in November, one Rajya Sabha seat going to the account of BJP is getting vacant in Uttarakhand and ten from Uttar Pradesh. While six seats are vacant in Maharashtra. It also includes the seat of NCP supremo Sharad Pawar. Six seats are vacant in Tamil Nadu. Five seats are getting vacant in West Bengal and Bihar. While four seats are getting vacant in Gujarat, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Congress will get one or two seats from allies

Sources say that the Congress is confident that it will win around nine seats on its own, while it will get one or two more seats from the account of allied opposition parties. Therefore, there is a discussion in the party that Congress General Secretaries Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Randeep Surjewala will be included as members in the Rajya Sabha.

Opposition party confident about Chhattisgarh, MP, Rajasthan

It is said that the Congress is confident of securing some seats in its ruling states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. After the election, the opposition will weaken and the ruling NDA will gradually gain a lead in most of the 68 seats vacated in April, June and November. With this, the ruling NDA will also get a majority in the Rajya Sabha. The Rajya Sabha is going to vacate 51 seats in April, five in June, one in July and 11 seats in November this year.

Several Congress members, including senior Congress leaders Moti Lal Vora, Madhusudan Mistry, Kumari Selja, Digvijay Singh, BK Hariprasad and MV Rajiv Gowda, are ending their tenure in April and June. Among them, Vora, Sailaja and Digvijay Singh are expected to be re-elected. While Raj Babbar and PL Punia are unlikely to be re-elected. The Congress can get two seats out of three in Rajasthan, two out of three in Madhya Pradesh, two in Chhattisgarh, one in Maharashtra and one each in Karnataka.
