NIOS: challenge the numeracy assessment process of nos in Supreme Court

In the petition filed against Class 5 (D), five children of 10th 12th have demanded fresh assessment of marks.

New Delhi. Five children of 10th-12th have filed a petition through their parents and have challenged the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) marks assessment scheme. The petition relates to the cancellation of the open school examinations due to the Corona epidemic and the average marks awarded to students.

The petition filed through advocate Rishi Malhotra raised objection to clause 5 (d) of the scheme. Clause states that students who have not appeared in any examination before due to any reason will be awarded marks on the basis of the average of the last three public examinations (final examination) in the written examination of the canceled subject.

Counsel for the petitioners says that the five petitioners have registered for the first time in the open school in this case. He has never given a public examination before this. In such a situation, on what basis are the marks of written examination for canceled subjects given? If these marks are scored on the basis of public examination of other students, then it is wrong. The petitioners demand that the marks in their result be re-evaluated and their written examination marks should be applied according to practical and TMA (tutor markus assignment). No date for hearing this petition has been set yet. The lawyer says that soon the petition will be requested to be put on hearing.
