National and State flood Disaster Response Force on Thursday rehearsed at Kodri Ghat of Rapti river to prevent and rescue untoward incidents during floods.
During this, the team dramatically demonstrated people falling into the river by boat during flood, reaching services when overflowing drains obstructed the way, and finding them missing in the river.
During the mega mock drill, other departments including NDRF, SDRF, Disaster Authority get information that due to heavy rains in the upper region of Nepal, the Rapti river and hill streams have been in spate.
There has been an outcry due to the closure of the means of transport. On this, a team equipped with state-of-the-art equipment under the guidance of NDRF Deputy Commandant PL Sharma and led by Inspector DP Chandra, leaves for the spot.
The police administration made a green corridor, so that the team and ambulance service could reach the spot soon.
NDRF and SDRF immediately started the operation as soon as they reached the spot. Hungry and thirsty children and women were safely evacuated from the village submerged by the floods.
Only then some people fall into the Rapti river from the boat full of more passengers than the capacity. As soon as the information is received, the rescuers reach the drowning people with their motor boat and save them.
At the same time, using artificial rafts from domestic resources, it was demonstrated how to keep yourself safe during floods. In the exercise, NDRF set up an operation room for first aid.
During this, Additional District Magistrate Arun Kumar Shukla, ASP Arvind Kumar Mishra, IAS Ajay Jain, Neha Bandhua, SDM AK Gaur, Additional SDM Rohit Maurya, NDRF Dean Commander Gopi Gupta, Shambhu Yadav, Rajesh Lal, Harsh Lal, SN Rai, Tilak Raj , Santosh Kumar, constable Sonu Yadav, Deepchandra, Rais Ahmed, disaster advisor Sachin Madan were present.
