The airport terminal and complex have been designed infused with Indian culture. In this, there will be an experience of the Ghats on the banks of the Ganges in Varanasi and Haridwar. Noida International Airport has been designed to be pollution-free. The roof of the terminal building has been designed on the lines of the rising waves in the Ganges. Nodal Officer, Niyal Shailendra Bhatia informed that the terminal courtyard of Noida International Airport has been designed on the lines of Ganga Ghat of Varanasi. This will be India’s latest greenfield airport being built on an area of 6,200 hectares at Jewar, Greater Noida. In the initial phase, it will have a capacity of 12 million passengers annually. The government will get a fee of Rs 400.97 on every passenger flying from here. Apart from this, 16 other airports will be operational in UP by that time. In this way, it will be the most connected state by air in the country.

Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Bansal said that the maximum investment is being made on the airport being built in Jewar. Greenfield airports are currently being built in the country in Goa, Navi Mumbai and Greater Noida. Goa airport will be operational from next year. Work on Navi Mumbai has just started. He said, the pace of development of the aviation sector is such that the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi will not be able to withstand the full pressure of passengers. In such a situation, Jewar Airport will emerge as an important connectivity center.

Bansal said that UP currently has airports in Lucknow, Agra, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Hindon, Bareilly, Kushinagar, and Varanasi. Airports will be ready in Aligarh, Chitrakoot, Azamgarh, Moradabad, Shravasti in 2022 and Murpur (Sonbhadra) and Ayodhya in 2023. At present, a total investment of Rs 90,000 crore is being made at the airports of the country. This investment will take place over five years and will increase the number of airports in the country from 136 to 220.
