Shakib Al Hasan resigns from MCC committee after the ban

According to a statement issued by MCC, Marylebone Cricket Club today confirms that Shakib Al Hasan has withdrawn from the MCC World Cricket Committee.

Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has resigned from the World Cricket Committee of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) after the International Cricket Council (ICC) imposed a two-year ban on him.

The ICC on Tuesday banned Shakib Al Hasan for two years. There is a year of suspension in them. A bookie approached Shakib for match-fixing, but Shakib did not inform the ICC about it.

According to a statement issued by MCC, “Merilbone Cricket Club today confirms that Shakib Al Hasan has withdrawn from the MCC World Cricket Committee.”

All-rounder Shakib joined the MCC World Cricket Committee in October 2017. He also took part in meetings held in Sydney and Bangalore.

Shakib has now accepted the allegations leveled against him and has also accepted the ICC ban. He can now play in international cricket again from 29 October 2020 onwards.

The MCC World Cricket Committee consists of current and former international cricketers and umpires from around the world who meet twice a year to discuss the current state of the game. The next meeting of the MCC is to be held in Sri Lanka in March 2020.
